Cookiepedia is Changing
In the next few weeks we will be launching a brand new version of Cookiepedia.
The new Cookiepedia will be more user friendly, with more features and more information all about cookies.
Keep checking back and we will let you know the schedule once it is set.
About Cookiepedia
Cookiepedia is all about cookies - the computer kind, not the tasty snack variety.
At Cookiepedia all we do is provide information about cookies and cookie related topics.
More specifically Cookiepedia is an open source project to build a free, crowd-sourced knowledge base that categorises cookies, the domains that use them and what they do on your machine.
So if you have been looking for a site to tell you all you ever wanted to know about cookies, and more, then you have found it.
Cookiepedia is already the largest database of cookies on the web - just look at the numbers below. As we develop the site further we also aim to make it the most authoritative source of information about cookies and their uses on the web.

How to use Cookiepedia
Use the search box on the top left of the menu to input the name of a Cookie, Domain or Host to view that record.
Searches on cookies will result in both exact and approximate search results for the cookie ID.
If searching for a Domain, you will need to enter the full domain URL. So, 'ebay' will result in an empty search, while 'ebay.com' and 'ebay.co.uk' are different search results.
A Host search looks up the 'host' attribute of a cookie, and is useful for finding a list of cookies set by major third party host cookie providers - such as advertisers. Many host domains are listed with a '.' prefix, which needs to be included in the search to return a result.
Our database includes 7,000,000 cookies and domains and is growing daily. It can tell you what type of cookie it is, how long it hangs around for, and which popular websites use it.
We are also busy categorising cookies according to their role, and our contributors are publishing more detailed information about what they do every day.
The links in the menu will also take you to a series of pages with more gerneral information about cookies, their role on the internet, privacy issues, and regulations controlling their use.
All the information here is free for your personal or commercial use, just insure you credit Cookiepedia as the source when using data from this website.
How is the data gathered?
The majority of cookie data in the site has been supplied by The Cookie Collective http://www.cookielaw.org, a compliance software company that currently administers the Cookiepedia project.
The Cookie Collective has chosen to make all the data it has compiled on cookies through it's freeware 'Cookie Collector' http://www.cookielaw.org/the-cookie-collector.aspx publicly accessible.
We will gratefully include data from any reliable source and our goal is to make Cookiepedia a crowd-sourced, community driven site for anyone interested in cookies, transparency and privacy relating to cookies.
Get Involved
As an open source project, we are keen for compliance companies, developers and anyone with expertise about cookies to get involved and help develop this project.
If you already know all about cookies and would like to contribute your knowledge, then please Create an Account and a member of our team will get in touch when you have been given contributor rights.
If you have data that you think would make a useful addition to Cookiepedia, or if you think you might be interested in using our data in other services, please get in touch today.
Cookies are a part of everyone's internet experience, but few people really know anything about them. For the sake of better experiences for consumers, website owners and advertisers, making cookie information open and transparent is an important goal. If you can help, get in touch.
